Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre organised a distinguished national event to mark the UAE’ 54th National Day, held under the theme “Spirit of the Union: The Pulse of Generations.” The event was sponsored by philanthropist Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founder and Sponsor of the mosque and centre, and attended by students from Emirates International School, alongside a wide community participation. The celebration reaffirmed national unity and the pride in the UAE’s journey of union and achievement.
The event started with a speech by Abdul Salam Al Marzouqi, General Manager of Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre, who said: “I welcome you to this national gathering in which we celebrate the 54th National Day under the theme ‘Spirit of the Union: The Pulse of Generations’. Union is not merely a date in history; it is a lifelong project that began with the vision of the founding leaders and evolved into a proud edifice admired by the world. Our message today, as every year, is to renew our commitment to safeguarding this noble trust and to work diligently so that the UAE remains a haven of security, prosperity, and humanity. Let us draw strength from our history and look to the future with confidence, ensuring that the spirit of the Union continues to live in the hearts and minds of our children.”
The programme included addresses by keynote speakers. Sheikh Dr Fares Al Mustafa, Imam and Khateeb of Al Farooq Mosque, delivered a speech highlighting the greatness of unity, blessed by faith and elevated by leadership. He noted that God Almighty emphasised in the Holy Qur’an the virtue of togetherness and the rejection of division. “The United Arab Emirates embodies this value in its finest form; it stands as a global model for tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity. For us, the Union is not merely a national celebration but a religious duty and a social obligation, reminding us that a nation’s strength lies in its unity, cohesion, and adherence to noble values. This spirit is what safeguards the path of progress and ensures prosperity for generations to come.”
Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Farsi, Senior Principal Researcher at the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Islamic Culture, also delivered a speech, stating:
“The celebration of the 54th National Day is an opportunity to reinforce our shared national identity, the cornerstone of resilience and advancement. The UAE has succeeded in building a unique bridge between authentic heritage and future-driven innovation. Our role as researchers and cultural advocates is to document the remarkable story of the Union and instill it in the hearts of our youth, empowering them to write its next chapters through their innovative projects and meaningful contributions. Culture is the living memory of the nation, and the Centre is committed to nurturing it so that the values of our forefathers remain a guiding light on the UAE’s journey towards its centennial.”
